Part 3 – Landscape Lighting Guide: Path & Step Lighting

March 28, 2014    Proactive Landscaping

landscape-lighting-path-stepThe next category of landscape lighting we’re going to discuss is Path or Step Lighting. As we mentioned before, each category of landscape lighting contains its own different techniques. Using a combination of the techniques will help you achieve a gorgeous and secure outdoor environment.

Path or Step Landscape Lighting

It’s not uncommon to desire your paths, driveway or steps to be properly lit. Lighting for these areas provides an attractive look while also preventing safety hazards. For path lighting, you will generally want to opt for a low, capped fixture that will reflect the light to spread out and illuminate in a circular pattern. Staggering the path fixtures will create an even better effect while helping to ensure an entire area is properly lit up.

Path lighting fixtures are noticeable but appealing and should compliment your landscape. You won’t have any trouble finding the path lighting of your choice as there is typically a larger selection of these than of other landscape light fixtures. You will even come across specialty lighting like mount fixtures and insert lights; often used for illuminating steps.

Another important part of landscape lighting is step lighting. These fixtures are focused on safety, to illuminate a dark, possibly unsafe area, while also complimenting the architectural elements surrounding it. You won’t have any trouble navigating outside when you have step and/or deck lighting. These types of fixtures are commonly small, unobtrusive fixtures like the insert lights and small mounts.

With various options such as Up, Down or Step & Path lighting, you are sure to find an option that best suits the individual needs of your property. Call us for more information and let ProActive professionally illuminate your home or business today.
